The world’s first major exhibition dedicated to Marvel’s superheroes.

It's in November 2013 that Art Ludique, the first museum dedicated to contemporary art from the entertainment world, opened its project located at Les Docks - Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris for the 25th anniversary of Pixar. Art Ludique-Le Musée will launch March 22 until August 31, 2014, a new exhibition, this time centered on Marvel’s superheroes, became stars of international cinema.

For the first time, through "The Art of Marvel SuperHeroes", the public will be able to see an overview of the Marvel’s universe, from the historic boards of comics to the original drawings and illustrations of concepts made to the latest cinema productions. A visit around 300 original drawings, from publications that have seen born these mythical characters, signed by the legendary artists who participated in their creation and evolution: the inevitable Jack Kirby, creator with scriptwriter Joe Simon of Captain America, then creator with Stan Lee of the Fantastic 4, The Avengers, Thor, Hulk, X-Men, but also Steve Ditko’s incomparable style, creator with Stan Lee of Spider-Man, as well as original boards and artworks of John Romita, John Buscema, Don Heck, Tim Sale, Alex Ross, Jim Steranko, Gene Colan, Frank Miller, Neal Adams or those of French artists Olivier Coipel and Aleksi Briclot.

A focus on the Marvel studio, producer of movies "The Avengers", "Iron Man", "Thor" and "Captain America", will help to create a contemporary artistic gateway through more than 200 works made for adapting the superhero into cinema. Design and research drawings of characters and costumes, storyboards or design of vehicles and accessories will help you to go back in time through moments of our history. You can also admire the fabulous paintings of pre-production for movies directed by Adi Granov, Charlie Weng or the legendary Ryan Meinerding. That is thanks to the artistic supervisor and concept designer of Marvel Studios movies that we owe the sumptuous research paintings for Captain America’s costumes, Iron Man’s different armors and those of The Avengers team. It is to him also that we owe the painting made especially for the poster of "The Art of Marvel Superheroes" exhibition below.

The "The Art of Marvel Superheroes" exhibition will also be an event offering you to discover some of the real accessories used for the movie productions, along with their concept drawings, as the real Iron Man’s helmet, Thor’s hammer, Iron Patriot’s armor, Captain America’s shield and even Hydra’s bike.

The route of the tour will be marked out videos (extracts broadcast or unpublished from the documentary "Behind the Mask of Superheroes" directed in 2013 in anticipation of "The Art of Marvel Superheroes" exhibition, on an original idea by Jean-Jacques Launier, founder of Art Ludique-Le Musée and curator of the exhibition) featuring legendary creator Stan Lee’s comments on the origin of his creations, his influences and inspirations, as well as comments from artists including Joann Sfar, Zep and Olivier Coipel.

Pending the opening of the exhibition on March 22, watch below the exclusive interview with Stan Lee for Art Ludique-Le Musée.
